FastFiber reinforced its network capacity with the installation at Equinix, in Lisbon, of two new racks in different datacenter rooms and two new fiber optic cables (one for each rack with disjoint paths). The network solution installed enables the provision of fiber solutions with full redundancy to customers with high requirements in terms of quality of service. Considering the evolution registry in Portugal, new exceptional and temporary measures are established to respond to the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic and the COVID-19 disease. Therefore, FastFiber sent its employees back to telework and additional measures of social distancing were adopted to reinforce safety. The situation is being reviewed regularly according to the evolution of the pandemic and the recommendations of the Portuguese Government and other official entities, so that our employees, their families and communities take as fewer risks as possible.

FastFiber closed the 3rd quarter of 2020 with more than 4.82 million homes passed with FTTH Network which represents a growth of more than 50.000 homes passed in the quarter. FastFiber is still focused on broadening its network footprint, leading Portugal to be the first country in Europe to have full optical fiber coverage.

On March 18th the state of emergency was declared in Portugal to try to stop the virus from spreading and several restrictive measures were adopted. FastFiber abided all the decreed measures and adopted all the needed procedures to ensure its employees and respective families were safe.
